Conversation History
Control how much context your agent remembers from each conversation.
When answering, the agent uses both your Knowledge Base and the conversation history — the recent messages in the current dialog. This keeps replies coherent and contextual.
The History Limit
In Settings → Conversation History you set how many recent messages the agent considers. A higher limit gives more context but uses more tokens per request; a lower limit is faster and cheaper.
| Setting | Effect |
|---|---|
| Low (e.g., 6 messages) | Faster replies, less context; good for simple FAQs |
| Default (e.g., 12–16 messages) | Balanced context and speed — recommended |
| High (e.g., 24+ messages) | Deep context for complex sales conversations |
When to raise itIf your prospects ask complex, multi-turn questions (custom quotes, comparing options), a higher history limit noticeably improves answer quality.
Continuing Conversations
When a visitor returns to the widget, their previous dialog is restored, so the agent remembers who they are and what they discussed. You can always review or reset individual dialogs from Chat Logs.
