Retraining Your Agent

How and when to retrain your agent after changing your Knowledge Base.

Your agent answers from the indexed version of your Knowledge Base. When you add, edit, or remove sources, click Retrain Agent so the changes are re-indexed and your agent starts using the new content.

When to Retrain

  • After adding a new source (URL, file, or text).
  • After reloading a changed website page.
  • After deleting an outdated source.
  • After editing your system prompt (the prompt is included at answer time, but a retrain keeps everything consistent).

Retraining Limits

Retraining re-reads and re-indexes your sources (website pages are fetched again), so every retrain uses resources. To keep things fair and protect the reader service, each plan allows a limited number of retrains per day plus a short cooldown between runs:

PlanRetrains / dayCooldown between runs
Free trial524 hours
Standard512 hours
Pro206 hours
EnterpriseUnlimitedNone

If you try to retrain when the limit is reached or the cooldown is still active, the button will tell you when the next retrain is available. Most users retrain only after changing content, so a standard subscription almost never hits the limit. Upgrading your plan raises your retrain allowance.

How It Works

  1. 1You click Retrain Agent in the Knowledge Base section.
  2. 2All sources marked Ready for retrain (new or changed) are sent to your AI pipeline for indexing — website content is fetched at this point.
  3. 3While indexing runs, source statuses show Retraining.
  4. 4When finished, each source becomes Retrained and the agent answers using the fresh index. Sources that could not be read are marked Needs review, and every retrain is recorded in the Retrain Logs.
Retrain is blocked while your agent is pausedIf your free trial has expired or you’ve reached your message limit, the agent is paused and retraining is disabled. Upgrade your plan to reactivate your agent and retrain.

Retrain Logs

Every retrain is recorded with its status, the number of sources and chunks indexed, and any error message. Use the logs to confirm that changes actually took effect — a successful retrain ends with a ready status.
